Summer residents of the Moscow region will be able to get rid of excess apples, giving them a second life. By order of the administration, special branded garbage trucks will collect them until the end of this month.
An unprecedented harvest of apples this year amused summer residents of the Moscow region. But soon their problem became a large excess of fruit, which had nowhere to put.
As a result, all garbage containers intended for the collection of organic waste were jammed with apples. Fruits take up too much space, and also quickly deteriorate, exuding stench.
Given the tense situation in gardening partnerships, the authorities of the Moscow Region decided to launch an action called “Give a second life to apples!”
It consists in the collection of surpluses in the territory of summer cottages with special garbage trucks. Cars have already begun to move between large landfills and collection points. The collected apples will be sent to livestock feed or to compost, said the press service of the region’s deputy prime minister Yevgeny Khromushin.
Khromushin believes that during the campaign "Give apples a second life!" Will be able to collect at least 100 tons of excess fruit.
The location of the apple picking points and the schedule for the detour of garbage trucks can be found on the website of your regional operator or at the SNT chairman.
