Representatives of agricultural and farming enterprises in Turkey shared information that they plan to increase the volume of external shipments of citrus fruits and reach productivity indicators with an annual turnover of nine hundred million US dollars.
The reason to hope for such high rates is given by the high yield of citrus crops that is observed in the current season.
This information was shared with the general public by Khairettin Uchak, who heads the Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruit and Vegetable Products of the Aegean Coast.
These data are also confirmed in the Aegean Research Institute of Agriculture, noting that according to the results of the current season, farmers intend to collect more than two hundred sixty four and a half thousand tons of oranges, as well as about one hundred twenty two thousand tons of tangerines.
As for lemons, a crop of up to fifty-one thousand tons is forecasted. If we talk about grapefruits, then in this case we are talking about an estimated yield of four and a half thousand tons.
It will not be superfluous to note that this year the harvesting campaign in Turkish citrus orchards is delayed by ten, or even fifteen days, in connection with the late ripening of crops.
It is noteworthy that a season earlier, Turkish farmers harvested citrus fruits in the amount of four hundred twenty eight thousand tons.
This year, industry analysts are confident that there will be no problems with external shipments of Turkish lemons, oranges, grapefruits and tangerines, since the quality of the fruits of the current season is very high.
