Researchers of the fauna of North Ossetia have come to the conclusion that restoring the number of Bezoar goats that are residents of the Red Book is a doable task.
And in the very near future several representatives of these artiodactyls will be released into special enclosures in the region, whose total area will be over one hundred and fifty hectares.
Such information was shared by Chermen Mamiev, who heads the republican Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of North Ossetia. In the course of his report within the framework of the Open Government project, the Minister emphasized that both local livestock breeders and mountain hunters will help to increase the population of Red Book animals.
Bezoar goat
According to the head of the department, the construction of a special pen for Bezoar goats will be carried out with financial support from the government in the person of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology.
It is noteworthy that in the last thirty-five years, hunting for Bezoar goats in the territory of the Russian Federation has been strictly prohibited, since the number of these animals is critically small.
In addition, deforestation of mountain forests also affects the survival of these animals, and the fishing of poachers each time minimizes the chances of survival of this species.
It should be noted that North Ossetia has experience in restoring the population and nursing rare and sick animals. In particular, over the past three years, local breeders have released about five dozen deer, ten bison, and even two leopards into the wild.
