This year, agricultural land of the Russian Federation sown with potatoes of different varieties totaled about one thousand two hundred and eighty hectares.

It should be noted here that the share of crops grown in open ground remained almost at the same level as in the past 2018. And their actual area does not exceed five hundred seventeen thousand hectares.

It is noteworthy that this year, the rate of potato planting has significantly decreased - by almost forty-seven thousand hectares, when compared with the previous year.

In particular, representatives of agricultural organizations and employees of farms - to one hundred and sixty-eight thousand eight hundred hectares and up to one hundred thirty-three and a half thousand hectares, respectively, resorted to the reduction of crops. In other words, the share of reduction is over one and a half percent.

In this regard, analysts, having studied the situation, came to the conclusion that the volume of potato yield in the vastness of the Russian Federation this year will stop at about the same indicators as a year earlier - at the end of the harvesting campaign in 2018.

It is important to add that this state of affairs does not cause concern among representatives of the Fruit and Vegetable Union of the Russian Federation.
