On November 12, Sakata Seed Ibérica introduced the Perseus F1, the latest addition to the early-cycle broccoli family. About 200 manufacturers and several media outlets had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the characteristics of this new variety, which is entering the market after more than nine years of testing.
The variety is in high demand among manufacturers, as it gives them a significant number of advantages. It is designed for autumn harvesting from October 15 to December 15 and stands out due to its ability to adapt to areas with water shortages and saline soils.
This variety has an early harvest cycle that ranges between 70 and 80 days. Perseus F1 will help manufacturers achieve more stable production throughout the year, serving as a bridge between summer and winter production.
Broccoli contains almost all the vitamins necessary for the human body: A, B (almost the entire group), C, E, K, PP, U, as well as selenium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, chromium, manganese, sodium iodine, potassium, calcium, amino acids and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Due to its high yield, Perseus F1 is a variety suitable for both the fresh market and industry. During the day, participants had the opportunity to enjoy a product tasting and see the performance of the Perseus F1 in real growing conditions.
