According to employees of the regional department of the Rosselkhoznadzor in the Leningrad Region, last month residents of the Northern capital of the Russian Federation showed unprecedented activity in their attempts to bring prohibited goods from abroad to the territory of their homeland.
So, in April 2019, St. Petersburg travelers were actively transported from Finland, Estonia and other European countries, having managed to carry around 450 kilograms of “sanction” in their hand luggage.
According to representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor press service in the Leningrad Region, the department’s inspectors prevented more than eighty-five attempts by Russian citizens to carry in their hand luggage all kinds of products that are prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation. We are talking about feed additives, as well as fish and meat products, which Petersburgers intended to carry in small bags and pamper themselves and loved ones.
Russians also confiscated dairy products, in particular cheeses, which did not have accompanying documents confirming veterinary and sanitary compliance with the requirements of the Russian Federation. The further fate of the seized products is known: some of the authorized employees of the Rosselkhoznadzor were sent back abroad, and some were simply destroyed at a special training ground.
