In the Ternopil region, potatoes are becoming more expensive. At retail prices range from 10-15 UAH / kg. According to the forecasts of entrepreneurs, closer to winter, the cost may rise to 25 UAH / kg.
Potatoes for residents of the region - the second bread. The offer is still small, and this causes a price increase.
“In general, the potatoes brought by peasants are quite good. There is a choice of different types. Prices also fluctuate depending on the day, as well as on the type of potato. In general, we sell potatoes from 11 to 14 UAH / kg., ”Says seller Irina Vanchuk.
Cheaper potatoes can be purchased at the wholesale market - from 8 to 13 UAH / kg. Potatoes are also inexpensively sold in natural markets along the road: 9-10 UAH / kg. Crop failure is the main reason for the sharp rise in price, peasants explain.
“We collected a lot less this year than last year, although the area is the same. Slightly lost due to spring flooding. In general, potatoes are not very bad, but they are simply smaller. And the harvest also depended on the variety, ”said Olga Grushko, a resident of Zaleshchytskyi district.
Residents of the region are advised to stock up potatoes right now. According to experts, another wave of appreciation should be expected from October. And the highest price for potatoes can be in the winter.
