On August 29, Solana introduced three new early high-yielding potato varieties in the German city of Schwalmtal: Leah, Marta, and Jules.
“Lea is a very early potato variety with a deep yellow color, which is also suitable for organic farming and, above all, tastes great,” said Solana product manager Arn Page.
This variety is suitable for cultivation under agrofibre. It has a high resistance to viruses, rust, rhizoctonia, nematodes, 1 race of potato cancer. Lea has uniform tubers with smooth skin.
Marta is also a very early culinary variety, with a very light color of pulp and peel. It has shallow eyes and is very convenient for washing and packaging. Resistant to y-virus, re-germination, late blight, rhizoctonia, Ro1 nematodes and 1 potato cancer race.
The presentation of new registrations is completed by the Jul variety: a productive mid-early variety with a deep yellow color as well. It can also be grown in organic farming as a premium variety.
It has high resistance to potato rust, cracking and regrowth. Resistant to rhizoctoniosis, silver scab and anthracnose, Ro1 nematodes and 1 potato cancer race.
